FiiO K11 – Desktop DAC and Headphone Amplifier
The FiiO K11 brings digital playback and dedicated headphone amplification to a listening desk. Connect a computer or a suitable digital source, then choose the output that matches the actual wiring of your headphones.
This is the original K11 with a CS43198 DAC, not the separate K11 R2R model. Its compact display, three gain settings and USB-C data input make it a practical desktop control point. Choose Black or Silver from the listed options.
Explore the Features
FEATURE 01
CS43198 Digital-to-Analogue Conversion
The CS43198 DAC converts digital audio for analogue headphone and line outputs. It identifies this as the original K11 architecture; it does not offer the resistor-ladder NOS/OS design of K11 R2R.
FEATURE 02
4.4mm Balanced Headphone Output
The balanced output is rated at 1,400mW per channel into 32Ω, with THD+N below 1% under the manufacturer test conditions. Use headphones with a correctly wired balanced cable. A simple adapter from a single-ended cable is not appropriate.
FEATURE 03
6.35mm Single-Ended Output
The 6.35mm output is rated at 520mW per channel into 32Ω under the same distortion limit. This is the relevant connection for conventional fixed-cable stereo headphones, using the correct plug-size adapter if needed.
FEATURE 04
USB, Optical and Coaxial Inputs
Use USB-C for computer audio, or connect a compatible optical or coaxial digital source. USB supports up to PCM 32-bit / 384kHz and native DSD256; optical and coaxial have lower limits, so match the source output format.
FEATURE 05
RCA Line Connections
The RCA line output can feed a suitable powered-speaker system or amplifier. It is an output, not an input for recording a turntable, microphone or instrument.
FEATURE 06
Three Gain Levels
Low, medium and high gain let you match volume control to the headphone. Start with the lower setting and increase only if needed; high gain does not inherently improve the recording or headphone.
FEATURE 07
Display and Multifunction Volume Control
The front display shows operating information while the multifunction knob handles volume and settings. It is useful when several digital sources share the same desk and you want to confirm the active mode.
FEATURE 08
Customisable RGB Indicator
The illuminated FiiO logo provides a visual accent and sample-rate indication. Adjust lighting to suit the desk without confusing lighting changes with changes in audio performance.
FEATURE 09
Dedicated External Power
K11 uses an external DC 12V/2A supply. The USB port carries data; this is not a battery-powered portable amplifier. Plan space for the power lead as well as the audio cables.
FEATURE 10
Compact Desktop Footprint
At approximately 147 × 133 × 32.3mm including the feet, K11 fits under many desktop arrangements. Leave ventilation space and keep the headphone cable clear of the keyboard and mouse.
FEATURE 11
USB-to-Coaxial Digital Output
The shared coaxial socket can work as a digital output when USB is selected. This gives a computer a coaxial route to another compatible DAC; it is a mode-specific output rather than a second simultaneous coaxial input.
FEATURE 12
Quick Switching Between Headphone and Line Output
Double-press the multifunction knob to switch between headphone and line-output modes. Independent remembered volume settings make it easier to move between a headphone session and a powered-speaker setup.
FEATURE 13
Driver-Free Everyday USB Playback
FiiO lists driver-free use with Windows 10 or later and support for PS5 and Nintendo Switch. Some higher-resolution computer playback modes need the appropriate driver. Check the source settings and use a USB data cable.
FEATURE 14
Aluminium Body with a Silicone Base
The compact aluminium body gives the desktop unit a clean, rigid enclosure. A silicone anti-slip base helps it stay positioned while you operate the volume control or connect headphones.
Match the Amplifier to the Headphone
The Sennheiser HD 660S2 includes both balanced and single-ended cables. The DT 990 PRO Black Edition uses a fixed single-ended cable. Select the connection for the headphone wiring rather than simply choosing the socket with the larger power figure.
If you also need microphone recording, compare the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 instead of expecting a listening DAC to capture an XLR signal.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the R2R model?
No. This is the original K11 with a CS43198 DAC. K11 R2R is a different model.
Can I record a microphone through it?
No. It is a playback DAC and headphone amplifier, not an audio interface with microphone recording inputs.
Which headphone socket should I use?
Use 6.35mm for conventional single-ended headphones and 4.4mm only for a correctly wired balanced headphone cable.
Is it powered by USB?
No. It requires external DC 12V/2A power. The USB connection is for audio data.
Does every input support 384kHz?
No. USB supports up to PCM 384kHz, coaxial up to 192kHz and optical up to 96kHz.
Can it drive passive speakers directly?
No. The RCA line output needs powered speakers or a separate speaker amplifier.
Should I always choose high gain?
Start with the lower gain setting. Increase gain only if the headphone and source level require more usable volume range.
