RØDE PodMic USB White

A white USB and XLR microphone for a flexible creator desk

The RØDE PodMic USB White brings USB recording and analog XLR connectivity to a white desktop setup. Start with a computer and headphones, or connect it to a compatible microphone input when your recording system expands. This is the USB and XLR model in White, with digital voice processing and a headphone output for a compact podcasting or streaming workspace.

Designed for Your Listening or Recording Setup

Start with USB-C

Connect to a compatible computer and select the microphone in your recording software. The built-in preamp and digital conversion let you begin without a separate audio interface.

Keep an XLR path available

Use the analog XLR output with a compatible microphone preamp, interface or mixer. This path uses the external device for gain and conversion; it does not carry the USB processing settings.

Shape your digital voice signal

The USB signal path offers APHEX processing, including a high-pass filter, noise gate, compressor, Aural Exciter and Big Bottom. Configure supported functions through RØDE software and check app requirements for your device.

Monitor and position the microphone

Connect headphones to the 3.5mm output for direct monitoring during USB operation. Speak into the end of the microphone and use the swing mount to aim it toward your voice.

Build a stable recording setup

The microphone weighs approximately 900g, so choose a stand rated for the load. The RØDE DS2 desktop studio arm is shown with PodMic USB in RØDE's own setup imagery. Closed-back headphones such as the DT 700 PRO X or DT 770 PRO X help monitor a recording while reducing playback spill toward the microphone.

Choose the right connection and finish

The USB-C path supports compatible Windows, macOS, iOS and Android setups; some devices need a suitable data cable or adapter. The XLR path requires an interface or mixer with a microphone input. Prefer the other finish? See the PodMic USB Black. Both listings offer USB and XLR connectivity; color is the finish difference.

Get the most from a dynamic microphone

Position the microphone close enough for a clear voice signal, keep your speaking distance consistent and angle the pop filter to manage plosives. A cardioid pattern and processing can help your setup, but neither makes an untreated room silent. Check your recording for keyboard noise, reflections and clipping.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the PodMic USB work without an audio interface?

Yes. Its USB-C connection includes a microphone preamp and digital conversion for direct recording to a compatible computer or mobile device.

Can I connect it to an XLR mixer?

Yes. Use the 3-pin XLR output with a suitable microphone input. The connected mixer or interface provides the gain and conversion for that analog signal.

Does APHEX processing affect the XLR output?

No. The onboard digital processing is part of the USB signal path. Process the analog XLR signal in your external mixer, interface or recording software if needed.

What is the headphone socket for?

The 3.5mm output provides headphone monitoring during USB use, with a level control and direct microphone monitoring so you can hear your voice without a software round-trip delay.

Does it work with a phone or tablet?

It supports compatible iOS and Android devices. Check the device connection and required data cable or adapter; connector shape alone does not guarantee compatibility.

Is this the same as the original PodMic?

No. The PodMic USB adds USB-C recording, onboard digital processing and headphone monitoring alongside XLR. The original PodMic is an XLR-only model.

What is included with this white model?

The package includes the PodMic USB microphone in White, an external pop filter and an SC29 USB-C cable. A suitable microphone stand or arm is purchased separately.
