ELECTRO-VOICE AT AX

The voice of broadcast radio.

Electro-Voice RE20 dynamic broadcast microphone in black, a fixture of radio and podcast studios, and the 309A suspension shock mount made for it.

The RE20’s Variable-D design keeps your tone consistent as you move on and off the mic, which suits hosts who lean in and out. Pair it with the 309A to isolate desk bumps and boom arm noise, and run it into an XLR interface or mixer with plenty of clean gain; it needs no phantom power.

ELECTRO-VOICE FAQ

Before you buy.

Straight answers to the questions we hear most about Electro-Voice broadcast microphones.

Why is the Electro-Voice RE20 a broadcast standard?

The RE20 is a dynamic broadcast microphone that radio and podcast studios have used for decades. Its Variable-D design keeps your tone consistent as you move closer to or further from the mic, so voices sound full without a boomy buildup.

Do I need the Electro-Voice 309A shock mount?

The 309A is the suspension shock mount made for the RE20. It isolates the mic from desk bumps, typing and boom arm noise, which matters on live shows and streams where you cannot edit those sounds out.

What do I need to run an Electro-Voice RE20?

The RE20 has an XLR output and connects to an audio interface or mixer with an XLR input. As a dynamic mic it has lower output than a condenser, so choose an interface with plenty of clean gain or add an inline mic preamp. It does not need phantom power to work.
