RECORDERS AT AX

Record anywhere, mix later.

Shop Zoom portable and multitrack recorders in Kuwait, from the compact H4essential and the H6 and H8 field recorders to the PodTrak P4 for podcasts and the R12 MultiTrak for building songs track by track, with XLR inputs and SD card storage. Count the mics you need to record at once, then choose the format.

How to choose a recorder

  • Inputs: Count the microphones and instruments you record at the same time. A solo interview needs far fewer inputs than a band or a multi-host podcast.
  • Field or desk: Handheld recorders run on batteries and go wherever the shoot does. A tabletop multitrack suits a fixed spot for writing and layering songs.
  • Separate tracks: Recording each mic to its own track lets you balance and fix voices later in the mix.
  • Computer use: Some recorders also work as a USB audio interface, so one device covers location recording and sessions at the desk.

RECORDERS FAQ

Before you buy.

Straight answers to the questions we hear most about portable audio recorders.

Which recorder should I choose?

Start with the number of inputs you need at once. A compact 4-track recorder suits solo recording, interviews and field audio, while six- and eight-input field recorders suit bands, small shoots and larger sessions. For podcasts, a dedicated podcast recorder is built around multiple hosts.

Portable recorder or USB audio interface: what is the difference?

A portable recorder saves audio to its own memory card, so you can record anywhere without a computer. A USB audio interface such as the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 connects to your computer and records into software. Some recorders can also work as an interface.

Can I record a podcast with a portable recorder?

Yes. A podcast recorder gives you inputs for several microphones and headphone outputs for the hosts, and records straight to a memory card. Many also work as a USB interface when you want to record or stream on a computer.

Field recorder or tabletop multitrack: what is the difference?

Field recorders are handheld and run on batteries, made for location sound, interviews and video shoots. A tabletop multitrack recorder sits in a fixed spot and is built for recording and layering songs track by track.
