HUBS AND CONTROLLERS FAQ
Straight answers to the questions we hear most about smart home hubs and controllers.
An IR hub learns the infrared signals from your existing remotes and sends them over Wi-Fi from your phone. That lets you control air conditioners, TVs and other IR devices from an app, without replacing the devices you already own.
It works with devices that use an infrared remote, such as most air conditioners, TVs, set-top boxes, fans and soundbars. Devices with Bluetooth or radio remotes, and appliances without a remote, cannot be controlled through IR.
Infrared needs a clear path to each device, just like a normal remote, and it does not pass through walls. Place the hub in an open, central spot in the room; one hub generally covers the devices in a single room.
Yes. After you add your remotes in the hub's app, you can link it to a voice assistant such as Amazon Alexa and switch devices like the air conditioner or TV on by voice, or set timers and schedules for them.
