SANDISK FAQ

Before you buy.

Straight answers to the questions we hear most about SanDisk memory cards and storage.

SD or microSD: which SanDisk card do I need?

Check your device's slot. Cameras and many card readers take full-size SD cards like the SanDisk Ultra 64GB SDXC, while phones, handheld consoles, drones and action cameras usually take microSD cards like the SanDisk Ultra microSDXC. A microSD card fits an SD slot with an adapter, but not the other way round.

How much memory card capacity do I need?

64GB suits photos and short Full HD clips. For 4K video, long recordings or a handheld console game library, a higher-capacity microSDXC in the 512GB to 1TB range saves you from swapping cards mid-shoot or mid-trip.

What is the SanDisk Professional G-DRIVE for?

The G-DRIVE is a desktop external hard drive in 4TB and 8TB sizes, built for creators who need large storage for footage, project archives and backups. It connects over USB 3.2 Gen 2, and you may need to format it for your system before first use.

Should I keep my files on a memory card or an external drive?

Memory cards are made for capturing inside cameras and devices, not for long-term storage. Copy your footage to a large external drive like the G-DRIVE regularly, and keep important work in more than one place.
