The DM1 Dynamite is an active inline preamp that sits between a dynamic or ribbon microphone and your interface or mixer. It adds clean gain, so you do not have to push the interface preamp into its noisier upper range.
Yes. It runs on 48V phantom power from your interface or mixer and does not pass phantom power through to the microphone, which makes it suited to dynamic and ribbon mics rather than condensers.
Low-output dynamic mics used for podcasting and vocals gain the most, especially on interfaces with limited preamp gain. If your interface already reaches a good level at moderate gain without noise, you may not need one.
