2.0 or 2.1: do I need a subwoofer?
A 2.0 set like the Logitech Z150 or Razer Nommo V2 X uses two speakers and suits smaller desks and close listening. A 2.1 system such as the SteelSeries Arena 7 or Logitech Z407 adds a subwoofer for deeper bass in games and films, but needs space for the sub.
Soundbar or desktop speakers: which suits a gaming desk?
A soundbar such as the Razer Leviathan V2 sits under the monitor, saves space and keeps the desk tidy. A pair of desktop speakers placed on either side of the screen gives a wider stereo image, which helps with positional audio and music.
How do I connect speakers to my PC or phone?
Most desktop speakers connect over 3.5mm or USB, and USB-powered models like the Creative Pebble 2.0 also draw power from your PC. Bluetooth speakers such as the Logitech Z407 or SteelSeries Arena 7 can also play from your phone or tablet. Check the inputs on each model before choosing.
Can gaming speakers sync RGB lighting with my setup?
Some can. The Logitech G560 LIGHTSYNC syncs its lighting through Logitech G HUB, the Razer Leviathan V2 uses Razer Synapse for Chroma lighting, and the SteelSeries Arena 7 is set up in SteelSeries GG. Lighting is easiest to manage when your gear shares one ecosystem.
