The X4 supports discrete 7.1 speaker output and virtual 7.1 headphone audio. Super X-Fi personalizes the headphone experience, while Dolby Digital Live can encode multichannel audio for an optical connection on Windows.
A dedicated headphone amplifier
Support for 32–600 ohm headphones and selectable gain lets you match the output to your headphones. Direct stereo playback reaches 24-bit/192kHz, with a 114 dB DAC dynamic range.
Keep controls on your desk
Adjust volume, mute your microphone and switch between headphones and speakers from the device. Audio Balance adjusts the mix between two sources; console setups may need an optical connection or additional converter.
USB audio with app-based adjustment
USB-C carries power and audio. The mobile app uses Bluetooth Low Energy for remote control only: the X4 does not stream Bluetooth audio. Feature availability varies by platform; Dolby Digital Live is for Windows.
Separate Listening Outputs from Microphone Inputs
Connect listening headphones to the appropriate front output and a compatible computer-style microphone to the recording input where required. A passive plug adapter cannot make an XLR broadcast microphone work as a powered headset microphone. Choose each cable around the actual analogue or digital connection.
Choose the Mode for the Listening Session
Use direct stereo playback for an unprocessed listening path where the model supports it, or choose the available game processing for a different presentation. Does virtual 7.1 mean seven headphone drivers?
Virtual surround processes the signal for headphone listening. It is distinct from the separate analogue speaker outputs available on X4.
Can it connect an XLR microphone with phantom power?
These are gaming DAC/sound-card products with the listed headset or 3.5 mm microphone connections. They do not replace an appropriate XLR microphone preamp or phantom-power interface.
Does every software feature work on every platform?
No. Check the exact device, connection and software support. Console audio, microphone chat and computer processing can have different requirements.
Can X4 receive Bluetooth music?
Its Bluetooth Low Energy connection is for app remote control. It does not provide Bluetooth audio streaming.
Does PS5 Audio Balance need another connection?
The specified PS5 Audio Balance setup requires an HDMI-to-optical converter, sold separately. Do not assume USB alone supplies the full two-source balance workflow.
