Set your voice level from the microphone
Turn the upper control to adjust microphone gain and press it to mute. The lower control sets headphone volume, while the illuminated ring shows white when active and red when muted.
Connect, position and record
Connect the included USB-A to USB-C cable to your computer and plug headphones into the 3.5 mm output. Use the desktop stand or the supplied adapter with a compatible 3/8-inch microphone arm.
Use the Original Capsule’s Supported Format
The original AP-WUMIC Capsule records at 24-bit with supported sample rates of 48 or 96 kHz. Select the matching format in the recording application. Its standalone controls and software behaviour are separate from the newer Capsule Elite model.
Match the Connection to the Recording Setup
Connect the microphone through its stated USB cable route, then select it as the input in the supported application. Check the computer’s recording device and gain settings before the session so the application captures this microphone rather than another available input.
Use Monitoring to Check the Actual Signal
The microphone provides 3.5 mm. Check speech level, background sound and the intended listening output before recording, keeping headphone volume separate from microphone input gain.
Position the Pickup for the People Speaking
The available pickup arrangement is Cardioid. Place the microphone according to the chosen pattern and the people speaking, then adjust gain for the actual distance. Room acoustics and nearby equipment still affect the recording even with directional pickup.
Complete Your Workspace
Explore microphones, microphone accessories for your setup. Suggested products are sold separately. Compare each microphone alternative’s capsule, pickup patterns, connection modes, software and included support before choosing; a microphone-only model does not automatically include the arm or stand supplied with a different kit. Beyerdynamic and Audio-Technica headphones are alternative listening choices, with Elgato controls and Pulsar or ARTISAN products for a compatible computer desk. Choose any microphone arm separately for the exact thread and the total microphone-and-mount weight. Use a microphone headphone output only where that model provides one; otherwise choose a suitable computer or interface listening output. USB-only microphones do not plug into an XLR microphone preamp.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does this microphone connect?
Connect the microphone by USB to a supported computer and select it in the recording application. USB provides the microphone’s digital audio route and power; a separate XLR microphone input is not required for that connection.
Which pickup patterns are available?
Cardioid. Choose the pattern and speaking position for the session. Directional pickup does not remove every room sound; distance, gain and placement still matter.
Which recording format should I select?
24-bit / 48 or 96 kHz. Use a supported host, firmware and recording application setting. A maximum USB format does not by itself promise unclippable recording or eliminate the need to set levels.
How can I monitor my recording?
3.5 mm. Use the supported headphone output and controls to check your signal, separately from the microphone input gain.
What mounting or supplied-item details should I check?
Microphone with stand, USB-C to USB-A cable, stand quick-release cover and microphone thread adapter. Match any separate support to the exact thread, microphone and mount weight, and desk clearance.
Does the original Capsule use NZXT CAM?
The original AP-WUMIC-B1 / AP-WUMIC-W1 Capsule operates as a standalone USB microphone and is not supported as an audio device in NZXT CAM. Do not use the software and 192 kHz claims of Capsule Elite for this version.
