The drive is formatted in APFS for macOS 11 or later and is compatible with Apple Time Machine. Windows 10 or later requires reformatting. Choose the format that suits your intended computer before building your file library, and preserve any existing files elsewhere before carrying out a formatting operation that would erase the drive.
