Connect the interface directly to your microphone, or place an XLR cable between them when your desk layout needs more reach. The adjustable 0–60 dB gain range supports low-output dynamic microphones, including the SM7B. Switch on 48 V phantom power in a MOTIV app when your condenser microphone requires it. The interface draws power through USB-C, so this single-channel recording path does not require a separate mains adapter or external battery.

USB-C recording on desktop and mobile

The USB-C connection carries audio and supplies power when you move between supported computers, phones and tablets. Use MOTIV Mix on desktop or MOTIV Audio and MOTIV Video on mobile to manage your sound. Windows 10 or later, macOS 14 or later, iOS 17 or later and Android 14 or later are supported. The device retains its last processing settings, helping you keep a familiar recording sound when changing devices.

Auto Level for spoken recordings

Auto Level adjusts microphone gain as you speak. Choose Dark, Natural or Bright tone, or switch to Manual mode for direct gain control. Saved presets let you return to settings that suit your microphone and voice.

Denoiser and Digital Popper Stopper

Real-Time Denoiser reduces background noise in speech, while Digital Popper Stopper helps tame vocal plosives. Both target spoken recordings; Shure recommends disabling the denoiser for singing or acoustic instruments and the popper processing for instruments.

Direct headphone monitoring

Connect wired headphones to the 3.5 mm output for zero-latency monitoring. Monitor Mix balances microphone sound with device playback. Additional controls include EQ, compression, a limiter and selectable 75 Hz or 150 Hz high-pass filtering.

Does Shure MVX2U Gen 2 work with the SM7B?

Yes. Shure confirms support for the SM7B, with up to 60 dB of microphone gain. It also accepts other dynamic and condenser XLR microphones.

Can I record with a phone or tablet?

Yes. Supported platforms include iOS 17 or later and Android 14 or later, alongside Windows 10 or later and macOS 14 or later. The supplied cable uses USB-C at both ends.

Does it provide phantom power?

Yes. The interface supplies 48 V phantom power, configurable in a MOTIV app, for microphones that require it. It receives its own operating power through USB-C.

Can I hear the microphone without recording delay?

Yes. The 3.5 mm headphone output provides zero-latency direct monitoring. Monitor Mix lets you balance microphone input with playback from the connected device.

Which cable is included?

The package includes a 1 m USB-C to USB-C cable. An XLR cable is optional when connecting directly to a microphone and is sold separately for an inline setup.
