The first-generation Apple TV 4K supports H.264 and HEVC SDR video up to 2160p at 60 frames per second. Connected to a suitable television, it gives high-resolution material a path to the big screen. The final picture depends on the video source, television, output settings and the capabilities of the connected display.

Dolby Vision and HDR10

Support for Dolby Vision Profile 5 and HDR10 allows compatible content to carry a wider brightness and colour presentation than conventional SDR video. A television that supports the relevant HDR format is required to see that format correctly. The Apple TV also works with HD and UHD televisions that have an appropriate HDMI connection.

A10X Fusion and 64 GB Storage

The A10X Fusion chip uses a 64-bit architecture to run the television interface and supported applications. This configuration provides 64 GB of internal storage for the installed software and its data. Usable capacity is lower than the nominal figure after formatting and system files, and content access depends on the installed applications and accounts.

Siri Remote with Touch Navigation

The rechargeable Siri Remote combines a touch surface with familiar playback, menu, television and volume controls. It communicates through Bluetooth 4.0 and also includes an infrared transmitter, an accelerometer and a three-axis gyro. Its Lightning connector provides a charging connection, with actual time between charges depending on how the remote is used.

Wired and Wireless Connections

HDMI 2.0a carries the television output, while Gigabit Ethernet offers a wired network connection. Dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi with MIMO provides a wireless alternative, and the Apple TV itself supports Bluetooth 5.0. A built-in power supply keeps the power arrangement straightforward. An HDMI cable is a separate item when planning the installation.

Which Apple TV generation is this?

The MP7P2 64 GB family is the first-generation Apple TV 4K introduced in 2017, using the A10X Fusion chip.
