The LGA1700 socket supports compatible 12th, 13th and 14th Gen Intel Core processors. Check the CPU support list and installed BIOS version when choosing your processor.

DrMOS power delivery, DIGI+ VRM control and ProCool power connectors support the processor power system, while dedicated VRM heatsinks help dissipate heat around the socket.

Three M.2 Slots for Your Storage

Install separate drives for your operating system, games and project files. All three M.2 slots support PCIe 4.0 x4 storage, and the M.2_3 slot also accepts compatible SATA M.2 drives.

Four SATA 6Gb/s ports provide additional connections for compatible SSDs and hard drives.

PCIe 5.0 Graphics Expansion

The primary PCIe 5.0 x16 slot connects your graphics card to the processor. Its SafeSlot Core+ reinforcement provides additional support around the slot.

Three additional full-length PCIe 4.0 slots operate at x4, alongside one PCIe 3.0 x1 slot for compatible expansion cards. The onboard M.2 storage connections operate at PCIe 4.0.

Wi-Fi 6 and 2.5Gb Ethernet

Choose a wired connection through Realtek 2.5Gb Ethernet or connect wirelessly using the integrated 2×2 Wi-Fi 6 module and included external antenna.

Wi-Fi supports the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, while Bluetooth 5.2 connects compatible wireless accessories. Network performance depends on your router, connection and environment.

20Gbps USB-C and Extensive USB Connections

The rear USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C port supports data transfers up to 20Gbps with compatible devices and cables. Seven rear Type-A ports provide connections for storage, keyboards, mice and other peripherals.

An internal USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C header supports a compatible case's front USB-C port at up to 10Gbps. Additional internal headers support four USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports and four USB 2.0 ports.

Cooling Controls for Your Build

The flexible M.2 heatsink can be fitted to the M.2_1 or M.2_3 position. Dedicated CPU, CPU OPT, AIO pump and chassis fan headers accommodate compatible air and liquid cooling setups.

Configure fan behaviour through Fan Xpert 4 or the UEFI BIOS. AI Cooling II provides automatic fan adjustment based on CPU temperature and system testing.

Coordinate Your Lighting with Aura Sync

Three Addressable Gen 2 headers and two Aura RGB headers support compatible lighting accessories.

Use Aura Sync through Armoury Crate to coordinate supported components. Match each accessory to the correct header type and voltage when planning your lighting.

HDMI and DisplayPort

HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 outputs support up to 4K at 60Hz with a compatible processor's integrated graphics. Intel F and KF processors require a separate graphics card.

Thunderbolt Expansion

An internal Thunderbolt header supports compatible ASUS add-in cards. A compatible card is sold separately and is required to add Thunderbolt or USB4 ports.

UEFI Configuration

ASUS UEFI BIOS offers EZ and Advanced modes for system configuration. EZ Flash 3 supports BIOS updates, while Q-LED Core provides startup status through a compatible case power LED.

Which processors does the ASUS PRIME Z790-P WIFI support?

It supports compatible Intel Core 12th, 13th and 14th Gen processors using the LGA1700 socket. Check the ASUS CPU support list, as a BIOS update may be required for your chosen processor.

Does this motherboard use DDR4 or DDR5 memory?

This model uses DDR5 memory and has four DIMM slots supporting up to 192GB, subject to CPU, BIOS and memory compatibility. DDR4 modules cannot be installed.

What memory speeds does it support?

ASUS lists DDR5 support up to 7200+ MT/s through overclocking. Achievable speed depends on the processor, memory kit, BIOS and number of installed modules. Intel XMP profiles are supported.

How many M.2 and SATA drives can I connect?

The board provides three PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots and four SATA 6Gb/s ports. The M.2_3 slot also supports compatible SATA M.2 drives.

Does it include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth?

Yes. It includes 2×2 Wi-Fi 6 supporting the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, Bluetooth 5.2 and an external Wi-Fi antenna. A Realtek 2.5Gb Ethernet port is also included.
