Black and gold, with ROG anniversary detailing
This anniversary edition has its own visual identity: gold-finished antenna bases, a high-grade aluminum commemorative badge with a polished surface and diamond-cut detailing, and a signature pattern across the chassis and heat plate. Metallic finishes and subtle red accents complement the black body. Aura RGB adds lighting to the ROG presentation. These are the defining details of Edition 20, making the router suitable for a visible place in a coordinated ROG setup.
320 MHz channels and 4096-QAM
The 6 GHz radio supports channels up to 320 MHz wide, while 4096-QAM increases the amount of information carried in each wireless transmission. Together, they give compatible Wi-Fi 7 clients more room for large downloads, local transfers and high-resolution streaming. The router also supports earlier Wi-Fi standards, so a network upgrade does not require replacing every device at once.
Four bands, sixteen spatial streams
The wireless configuration combines 2.4 GHz, two separate 5 GHz bands and 6 GHz, with 4×4 transmit and receive capability on each. The advertised maximum rates are 1376, 5764, 5764 and 11,529 Mbps respectively. This is combined wireless capacity across the radios; it is not a promise of 25 Gbps internet speed to one laptop or console.
2.6 GHz quad-core processing
A quad-core 2.6 GHz processor works with 2 GB of RAM and 256 MB of flash memory. This hardware supports the router’s mix of wireless connections, Ethernet traffic and management features. Eight external antennas provide the physical radio array, while OFDMA and MU-MIMO help the network serve multiple compatible clients efficiently.
A dedicated 10G gaming connection
The 10 Gbps LAN port is also a dedicated gaming port, giving a connected gaming device network priority. The separate 10 Gbps WAN/LAN port can connect to a fast internet handoff or serve another local role. Use matching Ethernet capabilities on your computer and upstream equipment to benefit from these link speeds.
Game Boost, ROG First and OpenNAT
The gaming tools include Game Boost, ROG First and OpenNAT game profiles. ROG First coordinates with supported ROG devices, while OpenNAT simplifies setting up forwarding rules for games and consoles. These tools help manage traffic and connectivity on your own network; they do not remove delays caused by a distant game server or your internet provider.
Mobile gaming with one tap
Mobile Game Mode in the ASUS Router app lets you prioritize game traffic without navigating a full desktop control panel. The dedicated Gaming Network can also group several gaming devices under one SSID with three-level acceleration. That is useful for a household with multiple players or a room with several consoles, handhelds and gaming PCs.
Guest, IoT and VPN networks
Guest Network Pro supports up to five SSIDs, with dedicated options for gaming, IoT devices and VPN traffic. Keep smart-home equipment organized under its own network name, give visitors internet access without opening the local network, or place selected devices on a VPN network. Guest connection time limits and encryption options provide additional control.
AiMesh coverage expansion
The router can operate as an AiMesh primary router or node, allowing compatible ASUS equipment to extend the network. Access point, repeater and media bridge modes are also supported. Choose the mode that fits your existing modem, router and cabling; the large radio specification alone does not determine coverage through every wall or across every floor.
Network security and parental controls
ASUS lists security assessment, malicious-site blocking, two-way intrusion prevention and infected-device protection under AiProtection. WPA3 support, DNS-over-TLS and firewall controls add further configuration options. Parental controls include content filtering and customized internet schedules, with up to 64 profiles and 64 content-filter rules listed in the specifications.
WireGuard, OpenVPN and VPN Fusion
VPN clients include WireGuard, OpenVPN, L2TP and PPTP; server options include WireGuard, OpenVPN, IPSec and PPTP. VPN Fusion adds flexibility for connected devices, while Instant Guard provides a way to reach your home connection when away. A VPN network also makes it easier to group devices that should use a chosen VPN service.
Dual WAN and mobile tethering
WAN options include 10 Gbps Ethernet, 2.5 Gbps Ethernet and USB connectivity. Dual WAN and supported 4G/5G mobile tethering provide additional connection choices, useful when planning a backup internet route. Tethering uses an external compatible mobile device; this router is not described as having its own built-in 5G modem or SIM slot.
Traffic control, storage and maintenance
Adaptive QoS, traditional QoS, traffic monitoring and bandwidth limiting help you manage busy connections. USB applications include file sharing through Samba or FTP, a media server and Download Master. Configuration backup, system logs, connection diagnosis and automatic firmware updates make the router easier to maintain as your network changes.
10G and 2.5G ports for more than one fast device
Seven Ethernet ports give the router a useful mix of fast uplinks and local connections. Two ports support 10 Gbps, four support 2.5 Gbps, and the remaining LAN port supports Gigabit Ethernet. This lets you connect a gaming system, compatible NAS and other wired devices without limiting every connection to the same speed. LAN aggregation is supported for compatible equipment, but an aggregated link requires matching configuration at both ends and is not the speed of one physical socket.

The ROG Rapture GT-BE98 Edition 20 identity
The commemorative badge is part of the hardware design, alongside the gold antenna mounts and exclusive patterning. The edition keeps the extensive networking feature set while adding a distinct appearance for a ROG-themed desk or gaming room. Position the router with room around its body and antennas rather than hiding the hardware in an enclosed cabinet.

An Edition 20 interface for everyday control
The ASUSWRT web interface receives a dedicated anniversary color theme. Beyond its appearance, the router offers practical management tools: device notifications, connection diagnosis, configuration backup and restore, traffic analysis and firmware updates. The ASUS Router mobile app provides another way to manage supported functions, including Mobile Game Mode.

Plan the network around your actual devices
For the ASUS ROG Rapture GT-BE98 Edition 20, the useful connection is the one your equipment can support. Reserve fast wired links for compatible computers or storage, use appropriate wireless bands for mobile devices, and consider AiMesh where coverage needs expanding. Physical walls, client capabilities and the internet service all influence the result.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the ASUS ROG Rapture GT-BE98 Edition 20 different?
Edition 20 is the ROG 20th-anniversary version, with black-and-gold detailing, an aluminum anniversary badge, a signature chassis pattern and a dedicated Edition 20 web-interface theme. Its official specification identifies the underlying model as GT-BE98, in the BE25000 quad-band Wi-Fi 7 class.
Will it work with my existing Wi-Fi devices?
Yes. The official specification includes IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7. Older devices connect using their supported standard and band. Features such as 320 MHz channels and 4096-QAM require compatible client hardware; 6 GHz operation also depends on applicable regional availability.
Does BE25000 mean a 25 Gbps connection to one device?
No. The rating combines the theoretical maximum rates of all four wireless bands. One connection is limited by its band, client hardware, signal conditions and configuration. Internet speed is also limited by your service plan and upstream equipment.
How many Ethernet ports does it have?
There are seven Ethernet ports: one 10 Gbps WAN/LAN, one 10 Gbps LAN, one 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN, three 2.5 Gbps LAN and one Gigabit LAN. The dedicated 10 Gbps LAN connection is the gaming port. USB 3.2 Gen 1 and USB 2.0 ports are also included.
Can I use it with AiMesh or as an access point?
Yes. ASUS lists AiMesh router, AiMesh node, access point, repeater and media bridge operating modes. AiMesh expansion requires compatible ASUS equipment. Select the mode that suits your existing internet gateway and the way the rooms are connected.
Can this router use a 4G or 5G backup connection?
It supports USB-based 4G/5G mobile tethering and Dual WAN options. A compatible external mobile device and an appropriate mobile service are needed for tethering. The official specification does not list an integrated cellular modem.
