Intel Quick Sync Video also supports hardware media acceleration in compatible software. Availability depends on the application, codec and settings you use.

Choose the platform before the RAM

The i7-14700K uses the LGA1700 socket and works with supported Intel 600-series and 700-series motherboards. Check the exact board's CPU support list and required BIOS version before pairing the parts.

The processor supports DDR4 or DDR5, but your motherboard determines which type you can install. Choose the board and memory together, because the two memory types are not interchangeable.

The boxed i7-14700K does not include a CPU cooler. Add a capable air or liquid cooler with LGA1700 mounting support, and check its clearance against your case, memory and motherboard layout.

Cooling capacity and case airflow matter during long rendering sessions and other sustained CPU workloads. Plan these parts alongside the processor so the finished system suits both your workload and noise preferences.

Which motherboard does the i7-14700K need?

Use a supported Intel 600-series or 700-series LGA1700 motherboard. Check its CPU support list and required BIOS version. Z890 motherboards use LGA1851 and are not compatible.

Can I use DDR4 or DDR5 memory?
