PCIe 4.0 bandwidth for demanding files
Sequential reads reach up to 6,400MB/s on 250GB, 6,900MB/s on 500GB and 7,000MB/s on 1TB and 2TB. The drive also works with compatible PCIe 3.0 systems at reduced interface speeds.
Samsung flash, controller and cache
Samsung V-NAND and an in-house controller work with dedicated LPDDR4 cache. Cache capacity scales from 512MB on the two smaller drives to 1GB on 1TB and 2GB on the 2TB model.

Samsung Magician provides supported drive-management features, including health information and firmware updates. Install the drive in a compatible PCIe NVMe M.2 slot, provide suitable cooling and check your motherboard's storage requirements.

The endurance rating is 150 TBW for 250 GB, 300 TBW for 500 GB, 600 TBW for 1 TB or 1,200 TBW for 2 TB. Keep the selected model and capacity tied to its own rating, and maintain backups of important files alongside normal drive-health monitoring.
Plan Bandwidth for the Actual Slot
The interface is PCIe 4.0 x4. Check the motherboard’s M.2 slot mode and any shared-lane restrictions before installation. A higher drive rating does not increase the bandwidth of a slower host slot, and practical transfer speed depends on workload and cooling.

What motherboard slot is required?
Use a compatible PCIe NVMe M.2 slot that accepts a 2280 module. Check the board’s storage support and slot bandwidth; an M.2 connector intended only for SATA does not establish NVMe compatibility.
Are the advertised transfer speeds guaranteed for every file?
The sequential figures are up-to ratings for their stated capacity and test conditions. Real transfers depend on the host interface, workload, firmware, available cache and thermal conditions.
What cooling should I plan for?
The standard 980 PRO module has no factory-fitted heatsink. Plan suitable cooling for the system and check the motherboard installation requirements.
