What do I need first to start streaming?
Start with clear audio and a decent camera, since viewers forgive video quality sooner than poor sound. A microphone on a boom arm such as the RØDE PSA1, a webcam like the Logitech C922 and a key light cover most first setups; a capture device and a Stream Deck can come next.
Do I need a capture card to stream?
Only if you stream or record from a console or a second PC. A capture device like the Elgato HD60 X brings that HDMI signal into your streaming PC, and the Elgato Cam Link 4K connects a camera with clean HDMI output. If you play and stream on one PC, you do not need one.
Webcam or camera: which is better for streaming?
A webcam such as the Logitech C922 plugs in over USB and is the simplest way to start. A mirrorless camera with clean HDMI output, connected through a capture device like the Elgato Cam Link 4K, gives a sharper image with natural background blur, but needs more setup and desk space.
Which Stream Deck should I choose?
Pick by how many controls you need. The Stream Deck Mini suits a few scene switches, the 15-key Stream Deck MK.2 covers most streamers, the Stream Deck XL gives room for complex setups, and the Stream Deck Plus adds dials for audio and lighting. All run on the Elgato Stream Deck app.
