M5 MAX PERFORMANCE
Work across demanding creative apps
The M5 Max chip combines an 18-core CPU with a 32-core GPU. It provides a platform for editing video, developing software, producing music and working with complex visual projects in compatible macOS applications.
Hardware-accelerated ray tracing supports lighting and rendering tasks in compatible software. Neural Accelerators and a 16-core Neural Engine also support accelerated AI features, with results depending on the app and workload.
36GB MEMORY AND 512GB STORAGE
Keep active projects within reach
This configuration includes 36GB of unified memory shared by the CPU and GPU, with 460GB/s of memory bandwidth. That shared memory supports projects that combine processing, graphics and several open applications.
The 512GB SSD provides local space for macOS, applications and current files. For large footage libraries, sample collections or archives, plan additional external storage and keep a separate backup of important work.
DEDICATED MEDIA ENGINE
Hardware support for your video workflow
M5 Max provides hardware acceleration for H.264, HEVC, ProRes and ProRes RAW, along with AV1 decoding. Its media engine includes two video encode engines and two ProRes encode and decode engines.
Compatible editing applications can use this hardware during playback and exports. Footage format, effects, storage speed and project settings still influence how your timeline performs.

COMPACT DESIGN AND FRONT ACCESS
Reach the connections you use most
Two front USB-C ports support transfers up to 10Gb/s, while the UHS-II SDXC slot makes it convenient to import files from compatible memory cards. Frequently connected devices stay within reach.
The enclosure measures 19.7 cm across and deep, with a height of 9.5 cm. Its compact footprint leaves room for your other equipment, while an active cooling system manages heat during demanding tasks.
SUPPORT FOR UP TO FIVE DISPLAYS
Give each part of your work its own space
Mac Studio with M5 Max supports up to five external displays through its Thunderbolt and HDMI connections. Keep a timeline, preview window, reference material and communication apps visible across your workspace.
One supported arrangement uses four displays at up to 6K at 60Hz and a fifth display at up to 5K at 60Hz over HDMI. Available resolutions and refresh rates depend on the complete display configuration, cables and adapters. Displays are sold separately.

THUNDERBOLT 5 AND 10GB ETHERNET
Connect the rest of your studio
Four rear Thunderbolt 5 ports connect compatible high-speed storage, docks and displays. Two USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1 and a 3.5 mm headphone jack provide additional connections for your existing equipment.
Built-in 10Gb Ethernet supports a wired connection to compatible networks and shared storage. Apple's N1 chip also provides Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Actual network speeds depend on your router, cabling, storage and service.
