Set the Microphone around the Speaker

A desk-mounted boom arm gives you a way to bring the microphone toward the speaker and move it aside when the desk is needed for another task. The PSA1 is intended for controlled positioning around a recording or streaming workspace. Plan the mount location around the keyboard, monitor and seat so the microphone can reach the speaking position without crowding the equipment.

Match the Load to the Arm

The supported microphone and mounting-accessory load runs from 700 g to 1.1 kg. Use the combined weight of the microphone, shock mount or clip and attached accessories when checking compatibility. A load within the arm’s stated operating range helps its counterbalanced arrangement work as intended, making the weight specification an important part of choosing an arm for an existing microphone.

Quiet Movement through Your Session

The PSA1 uses internal springs for quiet operation and smooth microphone placement. Its dual-section design supports moving the microphone around the desk without repeatedly rebuilding the stand position. Use the adjustment range to find a comfortable microphone distance, then arrange the arm so it has space to move clear of the monitor and other equipment.

Choose the Desk Mounting Arrangement

The PSA1 includes a desk clamp and a threaded desk insert, giving you two supported approaches to securing the arm. Choose the arrangement that fits the desk and follow the installation instructions before attaching the microphone. A well-chosen mounting position keeps the support clear of the main working area while leaving the arm room to reach the speaker.

Keep Reach and Cables in Mind

The published reach is 820 mm horizontally and 840 mm vertically, with a 3/8-inch mounting thread and a stated arm weight of 1740 g. These measurements help you plan whether the microphone can reach the intended position from the edge of the desk. Route the microphone cable with enough freedom to follow the arm as it moves.
