SAMSUNG FAQ
Before you buy.
Straight answers to the questions we hear most about Samsung Odyssey monitors and SSDs.
What is the difference between the Odyssey OLED G6, G8 and G9?
They mainly differ in size and shape. The Odyssey OLED G6 is a 27 inch QD-OLED built for refresh rates up to 500Hz, the G8 comes as 27 or 32 inch 4K 240Hz models or a 34 inch UWQHD curved model, and the G9 is a 49 inch super ultrawide.
Is a 49 inch Odyssey G9 right for my desk and PC?
The 49 inch G9 models, including the Odyssey OLED G9 G93SD and the VA-panel Odyssey G9 G91F, use a DQHD resolution equal to two 1440p screens side by side. Plan for a wide, deep desk and a strong graphics card, and note that some games need ultrawide support to fill the screen.
Odyssey OLED G8 or Smart Monitor M9: what is the difference?
The Odyssey OLED G8 G81SF is a gaming monitor built around 4K at 240Hz. The Smart Monitor M9 M90SF pairs a 32 inch 4K QD-OLED panel at 165Hz with built-in streaming apps, so it can play content without a PC, which suits a mixed work, entertainment and gaming setup.
PCIe 4.0 or PCIe 5.0: which Samsung SSD should I choose?
The 980 PRO and 990 PRO are PCIe 4.0 NVMe drives that suit most current motherboards, while the 9100 PRO uses PCIe 5.0 for higher sequential speeds. A PCIe 5.0 drive only reaches its full speed in a PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot; in a PCIe 4.0 slot it still works at PCIe 4.0 speeds.
