Overview

Elgato Facecam MK.2 Black Full HD webcam with fixed-focus lens and monitor mount

Elgato Facecam MK.2: Full HD with More Control

Set up a clear, consistent camera view for livestreams, recordings and video calls. The Black Elgato Facecam MK.2 combines 1080p60 video, HDR, a Sony STARVIS sensor and manual image controls in a compact USB webcam.

Tune the picture in Camera Hub, save your camera settings and close the built-in shutter when you need privacy. Audio comes from your chosen microphone or headset, so you can match the camera with a dedicated USB microphone.

Smooth Video and Balanced Lighting

Full HD at 60 fps

Capture expressions and movement at up to 60 frames per second in 1080p. When your recording workflow needs a higher frame rate, 720p and 540p modes reach up to 120 fps in supported applications.

Handle Bright Backgrounds

HDR combines different exposures to retain more detail in highlights and shadows. It helps when a bright window and a darker desk share the frame. HDR is automatically disabled at 720p120.

For more control over your face lighting, add suitable streaming lights.

A Lens Designed for the Desk

The Elgato Prime Lens uses an f/2.4 aperture and a 24 mm full-frame-equivalent focal length. Its 84° field of view includes your face and some surroundings, while the 30–120 cm fixed-focus range is suited to a seated setup.

Fixed focus keeps the lens from repeatedly refocusing as you speak. Use Camera Hub to pan, tilt and zoom digitally when you want a tighter composition; digital zoom crops the image rather than moving the lens.

Image Processing and Thermal Design

Dedicated Image Processing

The internal image engine works with the Sony STARVIS sensor to process the camera feed. Camera Hub exposes adjustments such as exposure, white balance and sharpness, so you can tune the result for your room.

Custom Heat Sink

An internal heat sink helps manage heat generated by the camera electronics during use. It supports the compact design for extended meetings, recording sessions and streams.

Set Your Look in Camera Hub

Save to the Camera

Press Save in Camera Hub to store your camera settings in onboard flash memory. Your saved image setup remains available after unplugging the webcam or connecting it to another computer.

Stream Deck Control and Optional AI Effects

Elgato Stream Deck controlling Facecam MK.2 Camera Hub settings

Use the Camera Hub plugin with a compatible Stream Deck to adjust supported camera settings with buttons or dials. This gives you quick access to framing and image controls while presenting or streaming.

Optional NVIDIA AI effects, including virtual backgrounds and face tracking, require a compatible NVIDIA RTX GPU and NVIDIA Video Effects SDK. Standard webcam video and Camera Hub image controls do not require an RTX graphics card.

Stream Deck and other setup accessories shown are sold separately.

Privacy and Flexible Placement

Slide the Shutter Closed

The integrated cover physically blocks the lens when you need privacy. It stays attached to the camera, so there is no separate cap to keep track of.

Monitor, Tripod or Arm

Attach the included clamp to your monitor, or use the 1/4-inch thread with a compatible tripod or camera arm. The low-profile mount helps keep the webcam close to the top of the screen.

USB Connection and System Compatibility

USB 3.0 for Uncompressed Video

Connect directly to a USB 3.0 or faster computer port for uncompressed video. USB 2.0 remains compatible using MJPEG compression. The detachable 1.8 m braided cable has USB-C connectors at both ends; a suitable adapter is needed for a USB-A computer port.

Windows, Mac and Switch 2

For the current desktop setup, use Windows 11 or newer with an Intel or AMD CPU, or macOS 13.3 Ventura or newer with an Intel or Apple CPU. Select Facecam MK.2 as the video source in your compatible streaming or conferencing application.

Nintendo Switch 2 support requires firmware 2.00 or newer. Update the camera through Camera Hub 2.1 or newer on a compatible computer, and save your camera settings before moving it to the console.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Elgato Facecam MK.2 have autofocus?

No. It uses an Elgato Prime Lens with fixed focus, optimized for subjects 30–120 cm from the camera. This suits a desk setup and avoids autofocus refocusing during a call. Pan, tilt and zoom in Camera Hub are digital framing controls.

Does Facecam MK.2 include a microphone?

No. Select a separate USB microphone, headset microphone or other audio input in your streaming or calling app. Facecam MK.2 supplies the video feed.

Does it need USB 3.0, and which cable is included?

Use USB 3.0 or faster for uncompressed video. USB 2.0 works with MJPEG compression. This package includes a 1.8 m USB-C-to-USB-C 3.0 braided cable. A computer with only USB-A ports needs a suitable adapter, sold separately.

Can it record at 120 fps, and does it support HDR?

It supports 1080p at up to 60 fps, plus 720p and 540p modes at up to 120 fps. HDR helps balance bright and dark areas, but is automatically disabled at 720p120. Available capture modes also depend on the application and connection.

Can I use Camera Hub on Windows and Mac?

Yes. For the current desktop setup, use Windows 11 or newer with an Intel or AMD CPU, or macOS 13.3 Ventura or newer with an Intel or Apple CPU. Optional NVIDIA AI effects require a compatible RTX GPU and NVIDIA Video Effects SDK.

Will my camera settings stay saved after unplugging it?

Yes. Configure the camera in Camera Hub, then press Save in the device section. The saved camera settings are stored in onboard flash memory and remain available after reconnecting or moving the camera to another computer.

Does Facecam MK.2 work with Nintendo Switch 2?

Yes, with firmware 2.00 or newer. Use Camera Hub 2.1 or newer on a compatible computer to update the camera before connecting it to Nintendo Switch 2. Save your camera settings in Camera Hub so they carry over.

Can I mount it on a tripod or camera arm?

Yes. Use the included clamp for a monitor, or the 1/4-inch mounting thread with a compatible tripod or camera arm. Additional stands and arms are sold separately.
