Choose the Processor and BIOS Together

The LGA1200 socket supports 10th and 11th Generation Intel Core processors. Check the exact CPU entry and required firmware before assembly or an upgrade. With an 11th Generation processor, the primary graphics slot supports PCIe 4.0; with a supported 10th Generation processor it runs at PCIe 3.0.

Four Slots for DDR4 Memory

Four DDR4 DIMM slots support dual-channel memory and Intel XMP. The manual lists a 128 GB maximum, with memory speed depending on CPU generation, module layout and compatible kit. Select the memory with the board and processor as one platform, allowing room around the CPU cooler and DIMM positions. A memory profile is an optional configured setting; it does not guarantee that every combination of modules and processor will reach the same speed.

Map the Storage Connections

M2_1 supports PCIe 4.0 x4 only with an 11th Generation Intel CPU and is unavailable with a 10th Generation CPU. M2_2 and M2_3 support PCIe 3.0 x4 or SATA M.2 drives. Six SATA 6Gb/s ports also support suitable internal drives. SATA2 is disabled by a SATA M.2 drive in M2_2; SATA5 and SATA6 are disabled when M2_3 is occupied. PCI_E3 also drops to x1 when PCI_E2 is occupied. Plan the locations before installing the operating-system drive, additional SSDs and other expansion devices so the completed machine uses the connections intended for each component.

Wired and Wireless Connections

Intel I225-V 2.5Gbps LAN supplies the wired network connection. Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210 and Bluetooth provide wireless connections. The 6 GHz band depends on operating-system support and local regulations. The speed reached in use also depends on the router or switch, the network path and the available service. Place the system and its network connections around a stable desk arrangement for the intended workload.

Rear USB, Display and Audio

The rear panel includes 2 × USB 2.0 Type-A, 4 × USB 5Gbps Type-A, 1 × USB 10Gbps Type-A and 1 × USB 20Gbps Type-C. HDMI and DisplayPort provide motherboard display connections when the installed processor has integrated graphics; they cannot provide an image from a CPU without graphics. Realtek ALC4080; optical S/PDIF handles onboard audio. Match external drives, monitors and audio equipment to the specific connection and function each device requires.
