How to choose a graphics card
- Resolution: RTX 5060 cards suit 1080p, RTX 5070 cards suit high-refresh 1440p, and RTX 5080 cards are built for 4K.
- VRAM: 8GB covers 1080p esports titles. 12GB to 16GB gives more headroom for new games at high settings and higher resolutions.
- Size: Compare the card’s length and slot thickness with your case. SFF models are made for compact builds.
- Power: Follow the card maker’s PSU recommendation and check for the right power connector, including 12V-2×6 on many newer cards.
- Cooling: Larger triple-fan coolers usually run quieter under load, while dual-fan cards fit tighter cases.

GRAPHICS CARD FAQ
Before you buy.
Straight answers to the questions we hear most about graphics cards.
How much graphics memory (VRAM) do I need?
8GB is enough for 1080p esports games. For new titles at high settings or 1440p, 12 to 16GB gives more headroom, and 16GB is the safer choice for 4K.
Will a new graphics card fit my PC?
Compare the card's length and thickness with the space in your case, and check that your power supply has the power connectors the card needs.
What power supply do I need?
Follow the card maker's recommended power supply wattage and leave headroom for your processor. A quality power supply with the right PCIe power connectors matters more than the highest wattage number.
Which RTX tier should I choose?
Match the card to your monitor. RTX 5060 cards suit 1080p, RTX 5070 cards suit high-refresh 1440p, and RTX 5080 cards are built for 4K. All RTX 50 series cards support DLSS and ray tracing, so choose by your resolution, the games you play and your budget.
Should I upgrade the card or buy a new gaming PC?
If your platform is recent, a new graphics card is the fastest upgrade. If your PC is older, a complete gaming PC with a matched graphics card, processor and power supply often makes more sense than upgrading one part.
